SPLASHES OF … HOPE! 11th OCTOBER 2013
Hello all you beautifully bloomingLadies…Well I hope you are, now that we seem to have shaken off the chill of the Winter Season, and at last enjoying sunny days and warmer temperatures! That should put a Spring in our steps as we journey on!
Some of you may know about, and some of you may not, or even have heard of Aglow International. Originally they were known as Women Aglow. It was founded by a group of dedicated Christian Women in the United States. Currently they are active in 170 Countries of the World, and are committed to the Ministry of Reconciliation. 2 Cor. 5 : 17 – 21. Rom. 12: 10 – 11 Amplified Bible is a verse they’ve singled out, with the emphasis being on part of vs. 11: “Beaglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord”. Sigh!
Wouldn’t it be great if we could get it right all the time to have faces that glow and radiate the Light of God that we know is in us? If we even get it right some of the time, I’m sure we’ll be happy with that, right? I know I would! I’m so glad that God doesn’t “swat” us – like we would to an irritating firefly – when we don’t! He’s so rich in Grace and Mercy towards us, and so “slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness” = Job. 4 : 2[b].
Does such knowledge not absolutely splash you to overflowing hope that God loves you and me so very much, and sees you as “Righteous in God through our Lord Jesus Christ”? Back to what and why the Aglow Int. Women use 2 Cor. 5 : 17 – 21!! Does it bring joy to your heart dear Pilgrim Sisters? It does to mine, and I am so thankful and grateful. It makes me echo what one of our sisters said recently = “I love Him to bits”!!
I rather like that word Glow…and so my imagination got to work on it! Don’t we Mothers just glow with pride when our ‘kids’ – and then grandkids – excel in a sport or an academic achievement, or their job/business or Ministry?! Our faces light up with sheer joy and happiness, we can’t hide it, or keep it to ourselves! Everybody can see something good’s going on!!
I’m sure you all remember the Glow in the dark toys phase the kids all went through and simply had to have it! They were not too much fun unless it was dark! One couldn’t get them to bed and put their light out!! Fireflies – or glow worms as they’re commonly called – do not glow in daylight either! I bet you’re thinking that I’m going to “go on” now about us, as Christians, and how we reflect, or ought to reflect, our faith in the “dark”, difficult times, aren’t you?
Well, yes you’re quite right, and I could, ‘coz it’s true, so we should, as much as is humanly possible, with the Help of the Lord, when we are in dark places, as we journey on in life. But I’m not going down that road today! However, at the same time, it goes hand in hand with where we’re headed this morning anyway!
So, those glow worms brought to mind what David said about himself in Psa. 22 : 6 = “But I am a worm”, and one of poor old Job’s so-called Comforters asked how a mere “son of man” = Job. 25 : 4 & 6 could be “righteous before God”, when he’s “a worm”! Well, if that’s how they feel, I reckon then be, or become, a glow worm! At least make a difference!! Do you agree with me sisters?
Stephen was as human as you and I, and when he testified of Jesus before the Scribes, Elders and People, it’s recorded in Acts 6 : 15 that his face glowed “as the face of an Angel”. The same goes for Moses, who, whenever he came down from the Mountain after being in the Presence of the Lord, as we read in Exod. 34 : 29,30, 35 how his face glowed! The Israelites were in awe!! Who wouldn’t be?!
Imagine how in awe Peter, James and John were when they saw what happened to our Beloved Savior and Lord JESUS as “His appearance underwent a change in their presence, and His face shone – glowed – bright like the sun, and His clothing became as white as light” = Matt. 17 : 2 Amp. Wow! Imagine that! I would’ve been in real fear, and trembling, for sure!! In all three of these instances I’ve mentioned, everybody could see something was going on!
Dear Sisters, the Lord wants us to radiate His Light, in our dark world, for people in our work places to see, for neighbors to see, and yes family too! Can they see something good’s going on just because of what we profess to be = Christians? His Holy Spirit in us will help us, so that we can reflect His Love, Grace and Mercy! How blessed we are!
As you head off into the week-end, and the next week, splashed with His Power may You Glow Girl! And remember,
I’m bright behind you!
Jesus loves you! I do too!
Rose
